B2 listening: main idea & speaker stance

The DELF B2 compréhension de l'oral rarely asks "what word did you hear?". It asks what the speaker is doing: taking a position, conceding a point, hedging a refusal. The information is real but wrapped — in disons que, in ce n'est pas… c'est…, in a compliment that sets up a criticism.

Two habits earn most of the marks here:

1. Catch the frame before the details. The first sentence usually announces what kind of move is coming (a nuance, a rebuttal, a report). Details only make sense inside it.
2. Track stance markers. Certes… mais, franchement, j'aurais aimé que… — these small words carry the speaker's attitude more reliably than the content words around them.

Here is each habit doing its work. The frame first: Je ne vais pas vous dire que tout va mal, je voudrais juste rappeler un chiffre. The speaker has just announced a nuance built on one figure, not an attack — every number that follows belongs to that nuance, and an option saying the speaker condemns the situation is already wrong, before any detail arrives.

Then the three markers, all heard on the same subject, le télétravail:

• Certes, le télétravail isole un peu, mais il m'a rendu deux heures de transport par jour. The isolation is granted to the other side; the position sits after the pivot, and it is favourable.
• Franchement, personne n'a envie de revenir au bureau cinq jours sur sept. The polite register has just dropped: what follows is the verdict, not one opinion among several.
• J'aurais aimé que la direction nous consulte avant de fixer les jours de présence. A criticism wrapped in a regret — the speaker is reproaching the management, not thanking it.
