Articles, gender and agreement form the first fossilized-error system: the mistakes that survive years of immersion because speech rarely punishes them. P48 takes the system apart rule by rule — negation's pas de against the être exception and the unshakeable definite articles, quantity expressions from beaucoup de to la plupart des, the partitive/definite choice, gender predicted from suffixes rather than memorized, and finally the full article-adjective-noun chain crowned by past-participle agreement.
