L'essai chronométré n° 1 : 250 mots en 45 minutes

Everything so far — thesis, blocks, connectors, concession — was learned at leisure. This unit adds the missing exam condition: 45 minutes, 250 words minimum, no dictionary. Set a timer yourself before you start writing; the unit gives you the time-box, the discipline of respecting it is yours.

The budget that survives contact with real exams:

1. 10 minutes — read and plan. Reformulate the subject as a question, choose your position, sketch at the brouillon: thesis + two argument blocks
   • one concessive move + conclusion. Two developed blocks with examples beat six skeletal ideas every time — depth fills 250 words, lists do not.
2. 30 minutes — write. Follow the plan; do not renegotiate your position mid-copy. A candidate who starts writing at minute one discovers his arguments as he goes: the structure drifts, the ratures multiply, the thesis dissolves.
3. 5 minutes — relecture. Three targeted passes from PE-10/11/12: accents, agreements, verb endings. One target per sweep.

Word counting under time pressure: never count 250 words one by one. Count the words on one average line of your handwriting, multiply by the number of lines. If a line carries ten words, twenty-five lines clears the floor — write a couple of lines beyond it for safety.

« Tenir le délai » is the skill being trained: a complete, plain, well-relected copy outscores a brilliant unfinished one, because the grid pays for respect de la consigne and cohérence before it pays for genius.
