Announcements and consumer-news segments are the exam's precision drill. Three layers, in rising order of danger:

1. Numbers at speed. The 70–99 zone is arithmetic in disguise: soixante-quinze = 75, quatre-vingt-treize = 93, quatre-vingt-quinze = 95. Decimals arrive as quatre virgule cinq (4,5). Write digits in your grid the instant you hear them — reconstructed numbers decay within seconds.
2. Date boundaries. À partir du 12 mai includes the 12th; du 4 au 8 août inclus includes both ends, so normal service resumes on the 9th. La veille / le lendemain shift a stated date by one day — the question will ask for the shifted one.
3. Conditions. The value is nothing without its scope: gratuit — for whom? Obligatoire — above what threshold? Listen for sauf, à condition de, pour les groupes de plus de…, ayant renouvelé avant…. B2 items rarely test the number alone; they test the clause that restricts it. Hear one at broadcast speed: L'entrée du musée est gratuite le premier dimanche du mois, sauf pour les groupes de plus de dix personnes. Asked what a class of twenty-five pays on that Sunday, the literal reading answers rien — the word gratuit really was said, and that is the distractor. The right answer comes from the clause that restricts it: twenty-five is above the threshold, so the class pays the normal fare. Same number, opposite answer, and the condition is what moved it.
