Dire le réflexe être et il y a

P45.oral-automatisms.02 · Audience: guest, language-pro, it-ml

Unité PO-38 · campagne 26 · l'auxiliaire se choisit avant le participe — à l'oral, il se choisit avant la pensée.

The auxiliary is the earliest decision in a French past-tense sentence and the one with the least time to make it. On a la appelée is not a knowledge gap — the learner who says it can explain the rule perfectly a second later. It is a timing gap: avoir arrived before être could.

GR-47 trains the recognition. This rung trains the reflex, by making you commit out loud before you can check.

Two shapes, one habit

Pronominal and movement verbs take être. Say enough of them under time pressure and the auxiliary stops being a choice.

Il y a is one word with spaces in it. It does not decompose while you speak. Il a un problème for il y a un problème, and il y ne a pas for il n'y a pas, are both what happens when a fixed expression is rebuilt from parts mid-sentence.

Reading the score

Listen for the words the engine did not hear. A dropped y, a swallowed me, a suis that came out as ai — those show up as a missing or low-scored word rather than as a grammar verdict, and they are exactly the errors worth repairing.

Recording starts only after you enable the microphone; the audio is scored and discarded, never stored.
