Strip a press text of its content words and the connectors that remain still tell you its whole shape. B2 items test whether you read that skeleton.

The four load-bearing families:

• Or — the smallest and most dangerous. Not "gold", not "now": it injects the fact that collides with what the text has just built (l'hypothèse était simple. Or les bilans montrent qu'un tiers l'ont épargnée). Where you see or, the argument turns.
• Opposition: en revanche, néanmoins, pourtant. Two blocks are being contrasted — the question will ask what stands on each side.
• Conséquence: ainsi, dès lors, si bien que, par conséquent. One block is presented as flowing from another; check the direction, because distractors reverse cause and effect.
• Reformulation: autrement dit, c'est-à-dire. The author restates — usually sharpening the thesis. A gift: the hardest idea said twice.

Exam reflex: when a question quotes a connector (que signale « dès lors » ?), answer with the relation, never with the content of either block. The four passages below each hinge on one connector; find it, name its job, and the item solves itself.
