B2 listening: detail, implication, register
P44.b2-listening.02 · Audience: guest, language-pro, it-ml · Prerequisites: B2 listening: main idea & speaker stance
The harder half of the B2 listening épreuve: items where the answer is a specific condition buried in administrative phrasing, an implication the speaker leaves hanging, or a judgement about register — is this voice familiar, neutral, ironic?
What to train:
- Conditions and exclusions. À l'exclusion de…, sauf…, dont le bail a été signé après… — B2 loves eligibility rules. Slow the mental replay at every restrictive word.
- What is meant but not said. Avant que quelqu'un d'autre décide à ma place is not small talk; it is information about power slipping away.
- Register as signal. Ouais alors… comment dire… tells you familiar-critical before any content arrives; un tarif pédagogiquement élevé is irony doing the work of a confession.
Same protocol: audio first, transcript after, distractors built from words you really heard.
