Reading traps are crueller than listening ones: the text sits in front of you, re-readable at will, and candidates still pick the planted answer. That is because CE distractors exploit how you search, not what you remember. Four families dominate, and your journal d'erreurs from the timed runs will tell you which one owns you.

The first family deserves its own rule: a choice that copies the text's exact words is a suspect, not a friend. « La truffe ne se cultive pas » does not mean cultivation is forbidden — the surrounding sentence (planting inoculated oaks, irrigating, pruning) shows the formula means no guarantee, not no action. Correct answers at B2 are nearly always paraphrases; verbatim echoes are how item writers reward reading and punish matching.

Four drill items, one family each: truffle growers and their motto (reprise), a solar-panel recycling plant with three volumes in the air (chiffre), an inspection report on village bridges that says serious but not collapsing (lecture faussée), and a beloved mobile grocery that would die without its subsidy (vérité partielle). Diagnose the trap in every wrong choice — naming it is the skill being trained.
