Sound drill: the /ø/ and /œ/ vowels

If your deux drifts toward a Russian о, listeners hear a different word and a foreign accent at once — which is why this vowel gets its own drill. The vowels of deux and peur are rounded like ou but spoken with the tongue kept forward, whereas Russian rounds and backs the tongue in a single move. Keep the tongue front while the lips round and the vowel snaps into place. Record the model and repair the vowel itself, not the consonants around it.
