An earlier unit tuned your ear to regional accents inside France. This one crosses the borders: Belgium, Switzerland, West Africa, the Caribbean. The grammar is the same French you know; what shifts is the vocabulaire and a handful of everyday words. Miss one, and a whole sentence can tip out of reach — so the goal here is variation lexicale, recognising that one thing carries different names across the francophone world.
Start with numbers, the classic trap. Belgium and Switzerland say septante (70) and nonante (90); soixante-dix and quatre-vingt-dix are the outsiders, not the rule. From there, a small map of high-frequency shifts:

The excerpts drop you into a Belgian choir's anniversary, a Swiss shopping plan, a Dakar traffic bulletin, and a Martinique weather warning about houle. Don't panic when a familiar word means something new — anchor on the context (a reserved hall, a caddie, the sea) and let it fix the meaning. The francophone ear is not a different skill; it is your B2 ear, widened.
