Third timed essay, and the training wheels come off. Essays 1 and 2 allowed the checklist on the table; this one runs under full exam conditions: no notes, no checklist, no dictionary, written in one sitting, d'une traite. The 10/30/5 budget, the concessive plan, the three-pass relecture — everything must now run from memory, because on the jour J memory is all you bring.

Three situations this run trains you to survive:

The uninspiring topic. The subject may bore you or leave you with no personal opinion. Irrelevant: the grid grades capacité à argumenter, not sincerity. Choose coldly the position that is easiest to argue — the one with the readiest examples and the cleanest concession — and commit to it in minute two. Never write a neutral fence-sitting text, and never swap the subject for one you like better.

The mid-copy panic. Minute 25, blank mind in the middle of block two. The antidote was written at minute 10: your brouillon plan says exactly what comes next — the block's example, then the concessive move. Return to the plan; never fill space with generalities and never restart a fresh copy.

The tempting extra argument. Minute 40, conclusion done, five minutes left, a third argument itching to be written. Refuse. Those five minutes belong to the three passes — accents, agreements, verb endings — which under stress reliably buy more points than one rushed, error-seeded paragraph.

Set the timer, put every aid out of reach, and write as if the invigilator were watching. Afterwards, grade the copy against the grid from the previous unit and update your checklist — from memory next time, too.
