L'essai chronométré n° 2 : consolider la méthode

Same conditions as PE-16: 45 minutes, 250 words minimum, timer started by you before the first word. But a second timed essay is not a repetition of the first — it is a correction of it, and three upgrades define it.

Upgrade one: write from your error log. After essai n° 1 you noted what broke — say, « plan trop long (15 min), deux fautes de subjonctif, aucune concession ». Those notes are now your personal liste de contrôle: plan capped at 10 minutes, subjunctives verified during pass 3, one concessive move deliberately placed. Training without this loop is just rehearsing the same mistakes at speed.

Upgrade two: aim for 270, not 250. Your line-count estimate is approximate; a copy targeted at exactly 250 words can land at 238 on the corrector's count. Around 270 mots buys a safety margin above the threshold at the cost of two or three sentences.

Upgrade three: recycle the wave's structures on purpose. The second essay is where the recent units converge into single sentences: « Bien que cette mesure soit coûteuse, l'amélioration des transports publics reste, selon la plupart des usagers, une priorité absolue » — concession with subjunctive (PE-18), nominalisation (PE-20), a cited voice (PE-21), and the la plupart des plural agreement (PE-14), all in one breath. Plant two or three such sentences knowingly; that is what the étendue lines of the grid pay for.

The final five minutes remain sacred: three relecture passes — accents, accords, terminaisons — one target per sweep, plus your personal checklist.

The practice tests the strategy: the 270-word margin, the three-pass endgame, recognizing a structure-dense sentence, and the error-log loop itself.
